How I Started Kahaani Coffee Roasters: A Story of People, Passion, and Purpose

Some people build businesses for profit. I'm building mine for people.

I’ve always loved meeting new people—not just in passing, but in ways that feel real. I connect fast and deeply. I want to know the truth of who you are. Your story. Your background. What keeps you going. And in many ways, that’s what led me to start my coffee roasting company.

Coffee as Connection

Coffee has always been more than a drink to me. It’s a ritual, a pause, an offering. A moment of generosity. The conversations that start over a cup of coffee have a kind of magic—people soften, open up, become more themselves. That space of openness is where I feel most alive.

Starting my own roasting business felt like a natural extension of that love. It gave me a way to bring people together, to share in stories and ideas, and to create something that mattered—not just in flavour, but in feeling.

The Individual Behind the Brand

I’m an individualist. Always have been. I believe in forging your own path and doing things with soul. I want to build something that’s real, lasting, and full of intention. Every decision in this business is driven by that mindset—from the quality of our beans to the people we source them from to the way we design our packaging.

Kahaani—our brand—means “story.” Because that’s what this journey is about: honoring the stories behind every cup. From the farmers who grow the beans, to the communities that cultivate them, to the customers who share them with friends or strangers, every sip is a thread in a bigger human tapestry.

Hard Work, Roots, and Realness

Starting a coffee company isn’t romantic. It’s long days, deep graft, and a lot of learning. But I believe in the power of passion. I believe that anyone—with enough heart and hustle—has the potential to create something beautiful. No one’s more special than anyone else. We all carry something unique inside us. My job is to celebrate that, and coffee is my medium.

Our roots go deep. We’re proud to source from Yemen, one of the original homes of coffee with rooted within Kahaani. It matters. The culture, the heritage, the ancient trade routes—it’s all part of the soul of what we do. The Socotra tree, which features in our branding, symbolizes this journey: a tree native to Yemen, rare and resilient, shaped by wind and time. It reminds us where we come from and where we’re going.

East Meets West

In everything we do, we aim to bridge worlds. East and West. Tradition and innovation. Old-world farming and modern roasting techniques. We want to bring high-quality coffee to people on both sides of the globe—with respect, transparency, and love. Our goal is not just to sell coffee, but to build a community that values depth over surface, care over convenience.

Giving Back

This isn’t just a business. It’s a platform to give back. We invest in the people who make our work possible—farmers, families, communities. We look for ways to uplift, empower, and tell stories that matter. Because we care. Because we know the power of attention and action. Because we believe that when you’re in a position to give, you should give everything you can.

This is how it all started. A love of people. A need to connect. A passion for quality and story and soul. My hope is that when you drink our coffee, you feel all of that. The roots. The heart. The graft. And maybe, just maybe, something in you feels seen.

Welcome to our journey.
